This R322 system automatically applies pressure sensitive labels to a variety of paint cans from one gallon’s to 12 ounce spray cans. The round product system is equipped with a wide label SL2000 label applicator (web widths up to 8.125”/207mm). The system includes a product encapsulator to accurately and synchronously adhere synthetic labels.

The system applies labels at a rate from 30 to 65 products per minute, depending on the container and label size.

The R322 system includes an 8’ (2.44 meters) delrin chain conveyor, centralized controls, and a UL certified control enclosure.

The system framework is constructed of powder coated steel tubing. The conveyor side frames are powder coated aluminum channel. All other components are anodized aluminum, stainless steel and plastic.

Labeling Small Diameter Products

This automatic system is designed to apply labels to a variety of small diameter products. The operator places the products in a feed chute. The products are picked up by a carrousel wheel that rotates the products into position for labeling.

Once labeled, the products drop onto an exit chute. Production speeds up to 60 products per minute. The system includes an integrated platform and table on leveling pads and casters.

This automatic system automatically applies die cut pressure sensitive labels as a cap strap to a square liquor bottle. Upon detection by the photoelectric product sensor, the bottle is stopped and controlled by a pneumatic fixture and the label is tamped to the top and wiped down the neck. The wipe-down is achieved via a folding tamp head. Production speeds up to 40 products per minute.

The extra heavy duty system framework is constructed of powder coated steel tubing. The conveyor side frames are powder coated aluminum channel. All other components are anodized aluminum, stainless steel and plastic.

L60 for Honey Bottles

This semi-automatic system is designed to apply front & back labels to an assortment of honey bottles. By placing the bottles into the adjustable product fixture, the operator depresses the footswitch, applying the front label to the container. Utilizing the spring loaded fixture, the operator can easily rotate the product in the fixture to apply the back label, found on an alternating label on the web.

The system utilizes the L60 label applicator with a vacuum head, base platform and legs, as well as an adjustable product fixture for up to six (6) product sizes.

CP2000 Rounds, Orientation, Ovals

This CP2000 is designed for high volume, high production speeds for labeling rounds, round one gallons with handle orientation, and ovals, and all with a limited changeover time.

The L60 and R310 Semi-automatic labeling machines

Labeling round products that are conical (tapered) in shape can be a challenge. The R321 with encapsulator and vacuum transfer grid facilitates the feeding of a crescent-shaped label onto a conical-shaped product, and rotates the product in place to properly apply labels.

The result: A system wrapping a label around conical shaped products at a required rate of 35 products per minute.

Discontinuation of controller replacement of Berger Lahr

Labeling machinery manufacturers generally address the needs of customers with high volume labeling requirements. But what about those organizations with the medium-to low volume needs? Perhaps a start-up organization with a new product they’re trying to get off the ground. Another might be a large organization conducting a short run market test. Possibly a new product shape that is not conducive to traditional product handling. These are just a few issues confronting many production and contract packaging organizations. The answer to all of these questions is semi-automatic labeling.

Semi-automatic labeling has traditionally been viewed as a table-top machine that works more like a glorified tape dispenser. Semi-automatic labelers were generally designed either by small job shops without a standard manufacturing process, or as an

afterthought, cobbled together by inline labeling

machinery manufacturers. Design Strategy, Operator’s Manuals, Spare Parts Lists, and Bills of Material regarding semi-automatic labeling as a rule do not receive the proper attention found in automatic labeling systems.

The fact is that there is a gap in production labeling that can only be filled by the semiautomatic

labeling process. The criteria for semi-automatic label production can include any of the following items:

• Labeling volume under 6,000 products per day.

• Product shapes not conducive to automated

product handling.

• Short run volumes under 30,000 products.

Whether they are for bottle, wrap, or two-panel and three-panel labeling machines, or straight forward inline labeling machines, all are unique to the customer’s products. Even pallet labeling can require single side and dual panel labels.

The Most Common Applicators

As a manufacturer, we have to address the basic needs of bottle labeling. They include table top models or full label wrapping systems. And, as a subset of this is an encapsulating device for wrap labeling product orientation. Other times, wrap labeling with an encapsulating device is to increase labeling quality. The only other variable is the type of applicator that matches the production requirements of speed and efficiency of the inline labeling machine.

Two-panel and three-panel Labeling

Next, let’s address the needs of products requiring two-panel and three-panel labeling. Two-panel, sometimes called dual panel, can be achieved with either semi-automatic (table top) labeling machines, or inline labeling systems. Semi-automatically, a two-panel label or three panel label is addressed via a multi-level tamp head whereby a product sits stationary, and a label is wiped down the dual panels or three-panels.
